Hello there! I’m Evan, a passionate mechanical engineering student interested in the aerospace, automotive, and broad design industries.
Thus far in my career, I have worked for three different oil and gas companies due to their obvious presence within Alberta. While I have appreciated my time and what I have learned at these companies, I have always been more interested in building and working on physical things. My time on the rover team and working on capstone really shaped this idea I knew was true about myself.
As a kid I was obsessed with LEGO, as I am sure a lot of engineers were (my favourite was always Star Wars). I believe that is where my interest with things like ships, planes, cars, and trains stemmed from. As an engineering student I also found myself gravitating towards CAD systems like SOLIDWORKS, as I believe I have a very 3D-focused brain. I was told this by one of my friends in our second year CAD class. In this class he always seemed to struggle with rotating drawing views around in his head to form the full model and vice versa, but I never found to have a problem with it. Due to this I always found myself being the one in group projects to do the CAD modeling, and I couldn’t have been happier!
Off the Clock
These days, whenever I’m not in class, studying, or in the gym, I am doing one of three things:
Watching TV shows or movies with my girlfriend (our current show is “The Pitt”, highly recommended).
Going on walks with my dog or hiking with my girlfriend.
Building LEGO, I’ve gotten back into it recently after a long hiatus from my childhood.
